The New Zealand Visitor Visa is mainly an online application: create an account on the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) website, complete the form online, upload your documents and pay; once approved you either send your passport to the visa application centre for a label or receive an e-visa directly. Note that this is not the same as Australia — Australia runs on ImmiAccount, New Zealand on INZ's own online system; the accounts and the visas are not interchangeable, and holding an Australian visa does not let you enter New Zealand. INZ decides the outcome; Yixing's job is to get your file in order and check it line by line against the official requirements.

The application itself is completed online on the INZ website; in the Philippines the New Zealand visa application centre is run by VFS Global (Makati, Manila / Cebu), which handles passport drop-off and collection and, where required, in-person document submission.

⚠️ New Zealand's NZeTA (Electronic Travel Authority) only covers visa-waiver nationalities and certain transit cases; Chinese and Philippine passport holders travelling to New Zealand as tourists still need a Visitor Visa as a rule. Whether a transit exemption applies to you is decided by INZ's rules in force.
Documents
General: passport (generally required to remain valid for 3+ months after you leave New Zealand — follow INZ's current requirement); a recent white-background digital ID photo to spec; the online application form; return flight booking or onward travel arrangements; accommodation and a day-by-day itinerary; proof of funds — bank certificate + the last 6 months' statements (INZ normally sets a minimum living-cost figure per month of stay, lower where accommodation is prepaid; the exact amount is whatever the INZ website currently states); proof of legal residence in the Philippines; complete travel history; PSA birth / marriage certificate (case by case).
Health and character requirements: applicants staying longer, or who have recently lived in a country with a high incidence of tuberculosis, may be asked for a chest X-ray or a full medical; INZ may also ask for a police certificate (NBI Clearance in the Philippines; records from China need separate notarisation and authentication). Whether these are triggered is INZ's call, based on your length of stay and your circumstances — confirm against the questions the online system asks you before you submit.
Employed: Certificate of Employment (position, start date, salary); company leave letter; last 3 months' payslips; ITR / BIR 2316.
Self-employed / business: DTI (sole proprietor) or SEC (company) registration + Mayor's Permit; BIR registration + annual ITR + financial statements; company and personal bank statements; property, vehicle and other asset documents may be added.
Processing & fees
Processing times vary widely case by case, typically from a few working days to several weeks, and stretch noticeably in peak season or when a medical or police certificate is added — file as early as you can before departure. Fees usually cover the visa application fee and the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL), plus possible visa centre service and courier charges; amounts are revised from time to time, so follow what the INZ website and the visa application centre currently publish.
🇨🇳 Note for Chinese passport holders residing in PH
Chinese and Philippine passport holders both need a Visitor Visa before travelling to New Zealand. Chinese nationals applying from the Philippines must upload proof of legal residence in the Philippines: a valid Philippine visa page, your ACR I-Card and your latest entry stamp (long-term visa holders should include the residence card as well).
New Zealand generally sets no hard "you must have lived in the Philippines for X years" requirement (unlike Korea, which does gate on years of residence), and you can file online while staying in the Philippines on a tourist (9A) visa. What the officer looks at is whether your ties to where you normally live are solid and whether your itinerary and return arrangements make sense — the shorter your residence status, the more you need employment, asset and family documents from China to show you will leave on time. Documents in Chinese must come with an English translation. If your case is unusual (a previous refusal, a poor immigration record, a medical or police certificate required), the official requirements may differ from the standard list — check on the INZ website or with the visa application centre before you file.
